In Depth: Backchecking

Backchecking consists of in-field spot checks in which a delivery manager performs spot, in-field inspection of deliveries.

Backchecking has some significant limitations. Little time can elapse between the delivery and the spot checking so scheduling and coordination can be a problem. Onsite supervision increases the chances that the delivery contractors will be reclassified as employees. The cost is in-field inspections is also high, thus limiting the number of deliveries that be checked.
